We welcome Reverend Gerald Davis to TUMC!
I must admit it grieves me to see our time together end this way. Since coming to you in May as
your interim pastor, I’ve been blessed by your faithfulness and mutual love for one another.
encourage you to continue in your connections with one another. May God bless you all during a
time of pause and transition, allowing the Holy Spirit to bring forth new beginnings and fresh
opportunities to live in Christian love.
Grace and Peace, Gerald

And from Preacher Mike:
I think of you all often and have been praying unceasingly for TUMC. Below is some of the result of the blessing you all gave Lauralee and me. The bridge and the new bank rip-rap is the neighborhood project. I'm sending a second email showing the mitigation of an ox-bow and cliff like bank that Lauralee and I did with y'all's help.
God is with us! - Mike
Church History
The United Methodist Men will be creating a display in the Tryon History Museum, currently
located on Maple Street. Many of the historical items that were displayed for Heritage Sunday will
be part of the permanent collection.
Bill McCall expressed that there may be a need for storing items until the new Museum opens on
Hwy. 176. If you have space in your home please let Bill know.
Thank you UMM for preserving the history from the 1900’s to present.
The Holy Spirit at Work in Your Life………..
Where is the Holy Spirit today?
When we recognize the Spirit evident in love, we begin to see a witness to the Spirit across our United Methodist connection. We observe evidence of the Spirit in our practice of the three General Rules: To do no harm, do good, and attend to the ordinances of God.
Often, the Spirit prompts us to do something. When we feel a pull to check-in on a neighbor, we might attribute that to the work of the Spirit. Or when we spontaneously lift our voices in prayer for a hurting loved one, we call that a movement of the Spirit. But the Holy Spirt might also call us into inaction: inviting us to love by not participating in systems of harm.
Ryan Dunn is a Minister of Online Engagement for United Methodist Communications. Sourced from UM Now
In the same way, we witness the Spirit moving us towards acts of goodness. The compulsion we feel to feed a stranger’s expired parking meter might be evidence of the Spirit. So, too, is the shared support received by United Methodist disaster relief workers at work in hurricane-ravaged areas.
Here’s to the bridge-builders, the hand-holders, the light-bringers, those extraordinary souls wrapped in ordinary lives who quietly weave threads of humanity into an inhumane world. They are the unsung heroes in a world at war with itself. They are the whisperers of hope that peace is possible.
Look for them in this present darkness. Light your candle with their flame.
And then go. Build bridges. Hold hands. Bring light to a dark and desperate world.
Be the hero you are looking for. Peace is possible. It begins with us.
~L. R. Knost~
Jesus said to them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.”
