CALL TO WORSHIP (umcdiscipleship) Rev. Gerald Davis
God, whose creative glory we see in the rushing wind and the swirling waters,
and whose love is revealed in the smile of a child, will remain with us.
God, whom we have discovered in the scriptures, and who has discovered us,
and who comes clear to us in Jesus and in the lives of the saints, will remain with us.
God, whom we encounter in the worship and service of faith communities,
whose Spirit is within the pastoral caring and the justice-seeking of this church,
will remain with us.
God, gracefully known in the hard places of our earthly life’s journey,
and who laughs and celebrates joyfully with us here, will remain with us.
God, who will be with us as this life ends,
who is with us in time and beyond time, will remain with us.
Let us worship our loving and faithful God.
INVITATION PRAYER (umcdiscipleship) Rev. Gerald Davis Lord God, whose Son was made the Cornerstone of a temple made of living stones, as we move on from this place, may we so live our lives that they might shout aloud of your grace and love, through Jesus Christ, your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST Rev. Gerald Davis
You are members of God’s beloved community. Greet one another with the
peace of Christ. As we pass the peace of Christ, greet one another in ways you feel
are healthy and comfortable for you.

*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed (UMH 881) Nancy Hiley
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; The third day he rose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
GLORIA PATRI (UMH 70) Congregation
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.
LITANY OF THANKSGIVING Rev. Gerald Davis
Blessed be the name of God, whose Word has long been proclaimed within this hallowed place.
We give you thanks, O God.
As generations have prayed their prayers and sung your praises here, your Spirit has blessed countless worshipers.
We give you thanks, O God.
We have celebrated the Lord's Supper here and been nurtured by it through our journey in faith.
We give you thanks, O God.
We have rejoiced here as believers have confessed faith in Christ. We give you thanks, O God. Here we have baptized our children and mourned our dead. We give you thanks, O God.
As new families have been created through marriage, we, our parents, and our children have vowed at this altar to love, honor, and cherish always. We give you thanks, O God.
From within these walls many have gone out to serve you in the world.
We give you thanks, O God.
As we go now from this house into a further journey of faith,
we give you thanks, O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.

MESSAGE I Commend You to God Rev. Gerald Davis
THE GREAT THANKSGIVING
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
You formed us in your image and breathed into us the breath of life. When we turned away, and our love failed, your love remained steadfast. You delivered us from captivity, made covenant to be our sovereign God,
and spoke to us through the prophets.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ.
Your Spirit anointed him to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
and to announce that the time had come when you would save your people.
He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and ate with sinners. By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant by water and the Spirit.
When the Lord Jesus ascended, he promised to be with us always, in the power of your Word and Holy Spirit.
On the night in which he gave himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me."
When the supper was over, he took the cup,
gave thanks to you, gave it to his disciples, and said:
"Drink from this, all of you;
this is my blood of the new covenant,
poured out for you and for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of me."
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine.
Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the body of Christ, redeemed by his blood.
By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet.
Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church,
all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever. Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER (Tena Greene-Porter, Soloist)
BREAKING THE BREAD
Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.
The bread which we break is a sharing in the body of Christ.
The cup over which we give thanks is a sharing in the blood of Christ.
GIVING THE BREAD AND CUP
The body of Christ, given for you. Amen.
The blood of Christ, given for you. Amen.
PRAYER Rev. Gerald Davis
